Spending summers at her grandparents’ country home in Missouri, Renee spent many hours making mud pies, unknowingly embarking on an art education that would ultimately lead to a lifelong journey of getting dirty. In Kindergarten, Renee made her first pinch pot now lost among years of perfected pottery. Moving to Houston, Texas at age 8, Renee once again found her medium in the clay she dug from the creek bed that ran behind her house.

In high school, she took 4 years of art and 3 years of architecture, followed by 2 years of college art coursework. She went on to study with Judy Adams of Foelberg Pottery, Gallery and Studio in Houston. Renee participated  for many years in the annual Pyromania Festivals in Lafayette, Louisiana, learning specific Raku techniques from such well-known potters as Bruce O’Dell, Randy Brodnax, and Don Ellis.  

Renee is an Accredited Teacher for Hadar's Metal Clay and is a Mayco Creative Partner. Renee teaches pottery, ceramics, glass fusing, and PMC (Precious Metal Clay) at her family owned and operated shop, The Ceramic and Pottery Center in League City, Texas. 

By combining unconventional glazes such as low-fire underglazes with raku glazes, Renee creates dynamic and colorful pieces. Along with this Renee utilizes other techniques like high-fire, low-fire, sgraffito and slip-trailing, Renee’s distinctive style is multi-textured, mixed media, and natural. Her motifs especially include floral designs inspired by hiking through botanical gardens and repetition of line. Renee also brings movement and fluidity to what is normally a static art form.

Renee’s original art can be viewed and purchased at her shop in League City or one of her annual shows Artoberfest in Galveston, Salt Grass Potter Sales in Clear Lake, and Texas Clay Fest in Gruene. She is member of Clay Houston and the Salt Grass Potters.
